What the End of Scomis ScoTech Services Means for Schools — and What to Do Next

Many schools across the South West are now facing an urgent challenge following the announcement that Scomis will withdraw its ScoTech IT support services from 1st August.

For schools currently relying on Scomis for IT support, backups, antivirus protection and other managed services, this leaves very little time to put alternative arrangements in place before the end of the school term.

What Services Are Ending?

From 1st August, schools using ScoTech services may be affected in several important ways:

  • Scomis engineers will no longer visit schools to resolve IT issues
  • ScoBackUp services will end and existing backups will be deleted
  • Antivirus licensing provided through Scomis will no longer be available
  • Schools will need to source replacement providers independently

For many schools, particularly smaller primaries with limited internal IT resources, this creates significant pressure during an already busy period of the academic year.

Why This Matters

Reliable IT systems are critical to the day-to-day running of every school. From safeguarding data and maintaining classroom technology to ensuring reliable internet access and cyber security, schools cannot afford gaps in support coverage.

Without a replacement provider in place before the summer break, schools could face:

  • Loss of backup protection
  • Increased cyber security risks
  • Unsupported devices and infrastructure
  • Delays in resolving technical issues
  • Additional workload for school leadership teams

Planning ahead now is essential to avoid disruption in September.
